A 100-pound statue of Edward Snowden showed up in a Brooklyn park overnight but was quickly removed by authorities.

Dressed in construction gear, a group of artists installed the sculpture of the National Security Agency whistleblower within the Prison Ship Martyrs Monument in Fort Greene Park.

The artists allowed Animal New York to follow them throughout the installation if the publisher promised to keep their identities private.

The group told Animal New York that their objective was to highlight Snowden's sacrifices in what they call a "fight against modern-day tyrannies."

Before the statue was removed, a parks worker was seen covering it up.

The NYPD said its intelligence division is investigating.

In 2013, Snowden leaked classified NSA information to the public. He's been hailed a hero by some but a traitor by others.

He's been charged with espionage and has sought asylum in Russia.
